Hosted by local quizmaster Munro, our quiz features clever twists, varied rounds and plenty of good-spirited competition. A £50 bar tab is up for grabs, plus enjoy 20% off dinner when dining beforehand.

Hayloft Dinner | Game Night
Thursday 22nd October | £80pp
As the nights draw in, we’re turning our attention to the best of the British countryside with an evening dedicated to game. Expect a menu that embraces the richness of the season, from duck liver parfait with damson and Yorkshire parkin to roasted mallard, followed by venison loin with gamekeeper’s pie, glazed beetroot and port jus. We’ll finish on a lighter note with blackberry, verbena and brown sugar pavlova.
An Intimate Evening with Pol Roger

We are honoured to welcome Martin Heidsieck, sixth-generation Pol Roger family for a very special evening in The Hayloft. A once-in-a-lifetime experience for some wine lovers, Martin will be showcasing some of the rarest wines from his family’s portfolio, alongside a very special five-course dinner, including Winston Churchill 2015 and their newly released 2019 Vintage.

Whether you’re celebrating with family, friends or colleagues, join us for a delicious three-course festive feast for £55pp. Expect festive favourites with a Yorkshire twist, from duck liver parfait with mulled wine jelly to a seasonal favourites for your main course and finished with a sticky toffee Christmas cake.

Kick off the festive season with an intimate evening in the Hayloft. Take your seat at our long communal table, share stories with old friends and new, and enjoy a wonderful, four-course supper centred around Christmas goose.
Fish & Chip Fridays
Every Friday | 12-2.30pm and 5.30pm onwards
Fish and chips makes its grand return to our menu for Fish Fridays. On the specials, enjoy our cider-battered fish alongside chunky chips, nori tartare sauce, mushy peas and obligatory curry sauce. All for £25.
Steak Night
Every Wednesday | from 5.30pm
Wednesday’s is steak night at The General Tarleton, where a well-priced steak takes to the specials board. In October, we’re serving pork ribeye with entrecôte sauce and fries for £28.
The 5pm Post
Every Friday | 5-6pm
Join us every Friday between 5-6pm for The 5pm Post, named as a nod to our coaching inn history (coaching inns also served as post offices). Be in the bar for 5pm where the horn will sound, our post board will go up, and on it three drinks priced at £5 each.
Wreath Making Workshops + Lunch

Join us for a festive morning and afternoon with our wonderful florist Sue aka Flora Staveley, who will demonstrate and help you create your own beautiful wreath with local greenery and foliage, followed by a two-course lunch. Plus, enjoy festive music and mince pies while you work!
Christmas Carols
SOLD OUT | Monday 21st December | £25pp
Join us for an evening of festive singing, followed by a pie and mash supper. Each ticket includes a glass of mulled wine on arrival and your dinner. Please note, it’s a very casual evening and can get very busy. We recommend keeping dogs at home, and if you have any accessibility needs please do let us know ahead of time so we can make comfortable arrangements for you.
