When you stay with us, we want you to feel relaxed and, most importantly, looked after. Our bedrooms have been designed with comfort and tranquillity in mind, and we hope guests feel like we’re a home away from home.
Each of our eight bedrooms blend modern comfort with nods to the Yorkshire countryside, combining earthy tones, natural textures and subtle touches to create a calming, cheerful space.

We welcome well-behaved dogs in our designated dog-friendly rooms for £25 per dog, per night.
Our dog friendly-rooms can accommodate a maximum of 1 medium-sized dog, no more than 36kg.
We want your dog to feel just as welcome as you do. A dog bed, blanket, water bowl and food bowl are provided, so they can settle in and make themselves comfortable. We just kindly ask that dogs stay off beds and upholstered furniture.
After a muddy adventure, there’s a hose at the front of the pub and dog towels provided for cleaning paws. Please use these rather than the guest towels. We kindly ask that you take care of the room during your stay. Any damage caused by your dog, including scratched doors or furniture, or additional cleaning required, may incur a charge.
If you’re heading off site, your dog must accompany you. If you’re dining or drinking downstairs, you’re welcome to leave your dog resting in your room, but we ask that you don’t leave dogs unattended in bedrooms without first letting the team know. If your dog is likely to bark, scratch at doors or become distressed, please keep them with you. We do kindly ask that dogs are left in bedrooms during breakfast, wherever possible.
For the safety and comfort of your dog our housekeeping team will only enter your room if: (a) your dog is not present, or (b) you are present with your dog (which must be on a lead). Owners are asked to take full responsibility for their dog’s behaviour throughout their stay to ensure it does not disturb other guests. If not, you may be charged for any damage/disturbance caused.
While we welcome dogs at The General Tarleton it is also vital that we take steps to protect any allergy sufferers who may also be staying with us. Therefore, it’s important that any guest notifies us at the time of booking if they suffer from a pet allergy, so that we can allocate a room away from where a dog may be staying.
Please note, our bedrooms are on the first floor, reached by two short flights of stairs, with no lift access. Showers are walk-in. If you have specific accessibility requirements, please don’t hesitate to get in touch before booking.
A £50 per night deposit is charged upon booking with the remainder taken on departure. For all cancellations outside of 7 days, your deposit will be refunded minus a £10 admin fee. For cancellations within 7 days, the full balance will be charged.
Our bedrooms are designed for two adults to share, but we do have a limited supply of z-beds and cots that can be set up for an additional charge. Just let us know what you need upon booking. Please note we can fit one cot OR one bed in all our rooms.
All food and beverage bills have a discretionary 12.5% service charge added to the final total, while there is also a 5% accommodation charge on all room bookings. These are shared between the team.
